Liquefied Phenol Aqueous Solution 80% WW (100mL) is a caustic solution used to effectively treat a range of foot (skin and nail) complaints.
Primarily used in the phenolisation or chemical matixectomy of ingrown toenails and in the chemical ablation of common or plantar warts (verrucae pedis & plantar), corns, calluses and psoriatic plaques, phenol chemical ablation causes minimal bleeding, allowing the patient to return to normal activities in a few days and has a reoccurrence rate of less than five percent.
Treating with 80% phenol on a once-weekly basis can clear up lesions (calluses and verrucae) within 6 to 8 weeks.
Due to phenol’s active antiseptic and haemostatic properties, it’s particularly helpful treating patients with diabetes and those taking anticoagulant medication.
Widely used by dermatologists as an effective chemical-peeling agent, liquid phenol is commonly used to treat and stabilise skin conditions such as vitiligo and alopecia areata with phenol derivatives used in the preparation of cosmetics including sunscreens, skin lightening preparations, skin toners and exfoliators.
Phenol-based compounds have been found to have some cancer prevention properties, helping cancer cells become more receptive to chemotherapy treatments.
